One-fourth cup granulated sugar
One-fourth cup melted unsalted butter

Optional: shredded cheese, herbs, garlic powder etc. for topping
Instructions:
Activate the Yeast:
Put together sugar and warm milk in a little bowl. Sample Answer
Sprinkle the yeast over the top of it and let it stand for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
Prepare the Dough:
Place flour and salt in a large mixing bowl; make a well at center then add yeast mixture, melted butter and egg.
Mix till dough forms; if using stand mixer use medium speed on dough hook attachment to mix some 5 minutes until dough is smooth as well as elastic. If kneading by hand turn on floured surface; knead for about ten minutes thereafter.
First Rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for approximately 1 hour, or until doubled.
Shape the Rolls:
Punch down the risen dough and turn it onto a floured surface. Split the dough into twelve to sixteen equal parts and make each piece into a round. On greased baking sheet, put rolls leaving some space between them.
Second Rise:
Cover them with kitchen towels and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes or until double in size.
Bake:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Put melted butter on top of your rolls and if you like, sprinkle some shredded cheese on top as well as some herbs or garlic powder.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown; remove from oven and brush with more melted butter if desired.
