Purple Velvet Cake

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon fine salt

1 teaspoon cocoa powder

1 1/2 cups vegetable oil

1 cup buttermilk, at room temperature

2 large eggs, at room temperature

2 tablespoons (1 oz.) purple food coloring

1 teaspoon white distilled vinegar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cream cheese frosting (homemade or store-bought)

Directions:

Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease, flour, and line two 9-inch round cake pans with parchment.

Mix Dry Ingredients: Whisk flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder in a large bowl.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vinegar, and vanilla until well blended.

Combine: Gradually mix wet ingredients into dry, stirring until smooth.

Bake: Divide batter between pans, bake for ~30 minutes. Cool in pans, then on a wire rack.

Frost: Once cool, frost with cream cheese frosting. Decorate as desired.
